The pop art concept launched in 2009 by Berlin-based artist Sabine Welz explores the living spaces of people: metropolises, cities, villages, landscapes. Whether small or large – these spaces reveal through architecture and buildings how their inhabitants, society, materials, trends, and lifestyles have changed over time. In streets, neighborhoods, and through landmarks, urbanity and history meet and shape the experience of life.
Sabine Welz explores this tension in impressive, colorful images: stylized landmarks become contrasting collages; photorealistic representations are contrasted through motif overlays, shadows, and exciting color worlds.
THE ARTISTS INSPIRATION
Every city included in the ART-DOMINO® concept has been personally visited by the artist Sabine Welz herself. The portfolio now includes more than 140 cities worldwide.
The basis for her motifs, city and country portraits, is always photographs she has taken herself. Sabine Welz lives and loves being on the move – travel is her greatest inspiration for her artworks and design projects.
Through travel, we overcome distances, both in time and space, and gain new experiences. We discover other countries and cultures, learn customs and unique characteristics, and find similarities and differences. What remains after each journey is an emotional connection and a memory.
